E-Bike spring check-up

Fahrradfahrer auf Radweg zwischen Fruehlingswiese

With the first warm days of spring, many people are bringing their e-bikes back out of the basement or garage. To ensure you can start the new cycling season safely and at full power, it’s worth giving your e-bike a thorough spring check – especially the battery.

The e-bike battery is the heart of your bike: it determines range, performance and riding enjoyment. After the winter break, you should therefore definitely check the condition of your battery.

If you have stored your battery correctly over the winter (in a dry, cool place, at approx. 30–60% charge), you now have clear advantages. Nevertheless, a quick battery check ensures safety, protects against damage and extends the battery’s lifespan.

E-bike battery checklist after the winter break

  • Check the battery for damage: Inspect your e-bike battery for cracks, dents or other visible damage
  • Clean the contacts: Carefully clean the contacts and casing with a slightly damp cloth (do not use aggressive cleaning agents)
  • Check the charge level: Fully charge the battery before your first ride
  • Test the function: Insert the battery and check that it is recognised correctly
  • Take a test ride: Check the motor assistance and your usual range

Safety precautions:

  • Do not use or charge damaged batteries
  • Stop using the battery if it becomes unusually hot whilst charging
  • If your display shows an error code, a software update may be required. Please contact our customer service team or use our app to carry out the update yourself.

Tips for greater range & longer battery life

  • Store your battery at moderate temperatures (10–20 °C)
  • Avoid deep discharge and prolonged full charge
  • Only use chargers compatible with our E-Bike Vision batteries

Conclusion:
A quick e-bike battery check in the spring ensures greater safety, maximum range and a worry-free start to the cycling season.

Is your battery in good shape? Then nothing stands in the way of your next e-bike tour
